Double
the Love

“Twins
are going to take over the word in case you didn’t know…” said sophomore
Myranda Love, twin sister to Savannah Love. The sixteen year old “built-in best
friends” walk the halls of River City as gifted musicians and talented
athletes.
The
twins state that they have many similarities and one would rarely see them a part.
Nevertheless, their personalities differ.
“[Myranda]
is more outspoken and funnier,” Savannah said after having trouble to exactly
describe her outgoing sister.
“Well,
I’m better looking,” Myranda jokes.
“We’re
best friends, we do everything together,” Myranda continues. Growing-up with
each other, they matched clothes head-to-toe since they were about nine years
old. Savannah confesses while looking at baby pictures, she couldn’t even tell
her and her sister a part. Now, they proudly share clothes.
Spending
the majority of their time in the Art building, the Love twins enjoy playing
music for the band here at school. Savannah says piano is one of her favorites,
whereas Myranda lists guitar, saxophone, trumpet, and choir to her interests.
“I’ve
taken every music class, but jazz band and MIDI,” Myranda says as her
charismatic personality shines through. Myranda and Savannah showed-off their
talent in the RCHS Talent Show on January 26th with one playing the
guitar while the other sang; this showcased their true passion for music.
In
addition to their musical instrument talents, the sisters are student-athletes
as well. The Loves play soccer, run cross country, and compete in track and
field. However, their athletic careers took a turn for the worse when they both
tore their ACL in their freshmen year.
Savannah
hurt her ACL first while playing soccer.
Just two weeks later, Myranda hurt the same knee, in the same sport, in
the same way.
Both
having potential career ending injuries, were able to bounce back after surgery
only to tear their ACL again on the opposite knee. The next surgery, they had
together, on the same day, and left the hospital with matching scars.
The
second injury happened just over a year ago in January 2011. There was no
stopping these girls; they recovered from their surgery rapidly and were able
to run cross-country in the fall.
“Never
give-up,” Savannah advises to everyone because they both came back from ACL
injuries on both knees and are still able to compete today.
The
sisters plan to pursue music after high school. Savannah isn’t sure, but
Myranda thinks it would be cool to go to University of California Berkeley.
It’s highly likely they would go to the same college because it’s hard to keep
them a part and hey, it’s an instant roommate.
The
Love twins were born on what they say is the “wrong” holiday of Christmas Eve;
they believe it should have been Valentine’s Day to correspond with their last
name, which Myranda wanted everyone to know that it is, in fact, their real
last name.
This
Valentine’s Day, ice cream and watching The Titanic will be the only thing
occupying Myranda and Savannah on February 14th.
“I'm
single!” Myranda shouts, as burst of laughter erupts while Savannah covers her
face with embarrassment.
