No More Tears.

" Maybe you're only alloted a certain amount of tears per man; and I've used mine up." -Carrie Bradshaw, Sex in the City

I have to keep telling myself the following: You're strong, you're courageous, & you're right.
These words aren't easy to utter; nevertheless, they need to be said, repeated, and believed. I have come a long way, you know. I not to sure how December Jordan could've handled this, but May Jordan is doing great-- I'm so proud of her.

I've heard people tell me that I am wise beyond my years. I agree, yet I will only get wiser with time. I am growing into a more realistic person rather than living in a fantasy as I used to be.
LIFE IS HARD. There is no reset buttons, no extra lives, no re-dos, or no easy buttons. BUT what I have also learned is that there is still so much more ahead of me: the good, the bad, and the unfortunate ugly---It all lies ahead. Not saying that what is happening in the present isn't worthy, but will it be this big of a deal in five years? one year? next week? tomorrow?

Love yourself, value yourself, and trust yourself and all that you stand for, the rest will all work itself out.

Vera Wang Bridal: Spring 2013

I love everything about this collection--the non-traditional silhouettes to the fact that not one of this a shade of white. Vera Wang's boldness is so inspiring to me..I'm in love.

"The key is falling in love with something, anything. If your heart's attached to it, then your mind will be attached to it. When you have a passion for something then you tend not only to be better at it, but you work harder at it too." -Vera Wang

This, I Believe.

On a Mission to Pursue Happiness
I believe that happiness comes from within. Some may argue that they have not found happiness yet or are in continual search. Some say that happiness is a choice and it could come at any given time. Happiness is a nine-letter epithet that tends to be reconciled with smiling and laughter. However, happiness can be merely pure contentment with one’s self and one’s life. Having my brother and sister home for Christmas after foregoing a long time away seemed as close to happiness as one could get. Surrounding each other as a family—a whole family— just seemed right. As if that light that was happiness seemed to dim as each of them began to board that plane doubt then crept within. Doubt of the fact that happiness isn’t here to stay; doubt that despite all the troubles I am going through, that sheer moment of content will never come again; doubt that maybe happiness isn’t meant for me.
The simplicity of it all is that happiness is destined to be continual and that we are all destined for happiness. Each night that I poured out my feeling onto my journal’s lined pages, I sometimes end in the wee hours of the morning with tears rolling down my face, sometimes a smile, or sometimes a yawn. However, every single time I write in that journal, ever since I received it as a gift three years ago, I sign, “love always, Jordan Ligons…On a mission to pursue happiness”. Despite the fact that some nights I despise myself for accumulating the words on the paper because “happiness” seemed unattainable but I knew, for a cold hard fact, that one day, one day I would be happy; content;peaceful; satisfied; no one to compare myself to and nothing more to need. Happiness. Real happiness. Happiness is purely a journey, not a destination. Each journey starts with a single step and continues one step at a time. This, I truly believe.

A Cinderella Story comes to an end: Louisville loses to UCONN for NCAA Women's National Championship

The UCONN Huskies were just too much for the number 5 seed Louisville in tonight's NCAA Women's National Championship game in New Orleans. Losing in a blow-out 60-93, Louisville couldn't get any shots to fall. This would be an exact opposite night for them from their victory over Baylor last week, upsetting the number one seed and tournament predicted champion Bears.

However, the presence of the stand-out 6'5 freshman Breanna Stewart from UCONN was the difference of the game for the Louisville-- they couldn't stop her. Not from the paint or the three point line; she was everywhere!

This win is Coach Geno Auriemma's 8th National Title with UCONN, which ties former Tennessee's Pat Summit for the most all-time.

Nonetheless, the Cards have a very promising future as they were the first number 5 seed to make it to the National Championship. Under Coach Wilz, hopefully we will see the Cards again in this position again soon--next time a winner.

I wonder if Baylor was sick to their stomaches watching this game? Do you think it would've went down to the wire if it was Griner and Dolsen battling in the post?

What can I say, I love fashion, but basketball will forever reign my heart.

31 Bits: Purchase a necklace, provide hope

Image provided by Google Images
31 Bits is an accessory line created using 100 percent recycled materials in order to empower women in Gulu, Uganda to rise above poverty. By recently launching their Spring 2013 Collection, 31 Bits is one of the businesses that produce socially-conscious goods as an instrument for change.
Founder Kallie Dovel traveled to Uganda in 2007 witnessing women making paper beads, but without a plan to sell and market their goods. After listening to their stories, Dovel returned to Southern California, teamed up with several friends and decided to create an organization which evolved into 31 Bits. Dovel said, “We had a market and they had a skill, together we had a business.” She continued, “We combined creativity with recycled paper to make incredible jewelry…the identity of 31 Bits was born.”
Starting with six women in 2008, the program has grown to 108 women making fashionable jewelry; each with a unique story and unique dreams.
31 Bits Designs is a business formed to give displaced women an opportunity to be entrepreneurs in their situations of poverty. The beneficiaries have access to an international market; this allows the women a chance to earn an instant income, which provides homes, food, and an education for their families. Within the 31 Bits four-year program, the women are provided with a literacy education, financial and vocational training, all-inclusive care, AIDS and health education along with community groups.
The company reported in 2012 that it has raised more than $500,000 for its employed women through product sales.
Orombi Gladies is the Livelihood Programming Manager in Uganda, who works hand-in-hand with the 31 Bits Uganda team, she says, “Our main purpose here is to empower the most vulnerable women so that in the future they can sustain themselves.”
By gaining these skill sets, the Uganda women have begun to chase their dreams. A 31 Bits video explains the success stories of women who have taken their education and put it towards entrepreneurship, saving their money for land, real estate, and to continue their education at a higher level.
The media is taking notice of these fashion designs as the word is spreading about 31 Bits. The Today’s Show, Access Hollywood, E! News, People Magazine, and You & Your Wedding Magazine are some examples of media coverage the company has been receiving for their movement of fashion for the good.
With a small team and a big vision, 31Bits.com says the best way for anyone to get involved is to spread the word, like their Facebook page, throw a 31 Bits party, or volunteer as an intern for a semester. Dovel adds, “31 Bits is part of a movement revolutionizing how people do business…We believe that business is a powerful force behind bringing change in women’s lives.”

The Greatest Artist of All Time.

The sheer greatness of Jefferson Bethke's spoken word never seems to let me down. God has given him a wonderful gift! And I love that he uses it to spread His Word. AND he's a Point Loma Nazarene Alum!! Ahh, isn't he just lovely?

I have always been a fan of spoken word; I find the poetry so powerful and the poets so vulnerable. I picture myself one day sipping on a wine glass while in a dim lit club where a poet is rhyming on stage in front of me; basically, I picture myself in the movie Love Jones. Dressed in all black with a red lip-- so dark, so mysterious, so in love with Larenz Tate...

Bethke speaks the truth and as I listen to each stanza of poetry he speaks, I just nod my head in agreement as my I'm taking each rhyme to heart. See more of his spoken word videos on his Youtube Channel bball1989.

P.s. Here is another one of my favorites from his ;)
